When it comes to beauty, we’ve always been guided by a few conventional, preconceived notions of the concept. But in an attempt to celebrate ‘real’ beauty in the most unconventional way, we take a look at some international models, who make imperfections look their very best!
She is a cross-eyed model who was signed by Storm Models, the same agency that birthed Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Andrej Pejic and Cara Delevingne. Brunett Moffy is breaking barriers with her signature cross-eyed stare and killer features. Moffy developed Strabismus (cross-eye) early in life and today she has made it her personal fashion statement.
Like they say, when you really want something, absolutely nothing can stop you. Melanie Gaydos is a perfect example of that. This 26 year old with a rare genetic disorder has defied all odds to become a top fashion model.
Beauty lies in imperfections. And this beauty’s imperfection has become her biggest strength. Chantelle Brown-Young, professionally known as Winnie Harlow, was diagnosed with Vitiligo when she was 4. Vitiligo is a condition of the skin that causes the loss of pigmentation in patches. She fought all her insecurities to take up a career in modelling and now she’s among some of the world’s top models and is in great demand, especially for her skin condition.
Jacky O’Shaughnessy has turned ‘ageing’ into a fashion trend. This 62 year old award winning actress and model, was signed by American Apparel for their lingerie line, giving a whole new meaning to the timelessness of beauty.
Kelly Knox, a specially abled model, was born without her left forearm. But she decided to say ‘So What?’ and took life head on. This young, gorgeous model followed her dream and made it big as a super model of global repute.
“I have too much imagination to just be one gender.”
That’s what Erika describes herself as in her profile on Twitter. An androgynous model, Erika poses as a man, as well as her feminine self, in highly aesthetic photo shoots. You could call her a tomboy and she loves posing as both genders. I wonder if she has more male fans, or more female admirers?
Well, it’s true. Beauty is everywhere. In every form. It’s we who fail to see and admire it. Hats off girls!
