Popular singer Enrique Iglesias, currently on tour in Sri Lanka as a part of his ‘Sex and Love’ programme, received all sorts of ‘gifts’ from fans at his Colombo concert.
Videos from the concert are in circulation that show some enthusiastic fans throwing their lingerie at the singer. After one girl threw her bra at Iglesias, he caught it and walked away.
Although die-hard fans have through the ages use this ‘novel’ way to display their love for a performer during concerts, this particular event has come under the scanner of Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena; the December 20 concert saw all sorts of reactions from girls – apart from throwing underwear, one girl also got on the stage and kissed Iglesias.
An enraged Sirisena has announced that the organisers of this concert should be “whipped with toxic stingray tails” because “this is most uncivilised behavior that goes against our culture.”
He added that the organisers should not do everything just for the sake of money.
Interestingly the concert organiser is a company owned by former top cricketers Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena, who have since apologised for the fiasco.
Iglesias had earlier taken to Twitter to share his excitement about this tour.
Meanwhile, B-town celeb Sophie Choudhury could not resist posting a picture she clicked with Iglesias on Instagram. We aren’t surprised.
