No Case Against Hafiz Saeed Here: Pakistan PM Shahid Abbasi

Hafiz Saeed has announced plans to contest the 2018 Pakistan general elections.

Saeed, who is also the chief of Jammat-ud-Dawa was recently released from house arrest on the order of Lahore High Court.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said, in an interview to Geo TV that there may be no case registered against Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan, saying:

Action is taken when there is a case registered [against someone].

The chief of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa, believed to be the mastermind of the deadly terror attacks in Mumbai on 26 November 2008, plans to contest the Pakistan general elections, scheduled to be held in 2018. His 2 December 2017 announcement came days after the Lahore High Court ordered his release from house arrest, that was imposed after he was detained under the Anti-Terrorism Act in January that year. He was released after the court refused to extend his detention on 23 November.
