  • There has been “no visible blow back” from Pakistan after a US drone strike killed Taliban chief Mullah Mansoor on 21 May, top Pentagon official Army Brigadier General Charles H Cleveland has said.

  • Cleveland said there had been no military-to-military issue yet and that they are trying to ensure a good relationship with the Pakistani military, although there has been “some tension and some back-and-forth”.

  • Pakistan Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif described the US drone strikes in Pakistani territory as “regrettable.” Senior Pakistani leadership has said that the US air strike “violated its sovereignty”.
