Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are expecting a second child, a daughter, the billionaire internet mogul announced on Facebook on Thursday.
The couple was not sure they would be able to have another child after a difficult pregnancy with their first daughter, Max, born in 2015, Zuckerberg, said in a post on Facebook.
“I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I'm so happy Max and our new child will have each other,” Zuckerberg, who grew up with three sisters, wrote.
Their first daughter briefly entered the spotlight last year when Zuckerberg posted a photo of her getting immunisation shots and was inundated with Facebook users debating the merits of vaccines.
Sharing photos of both his and Chan’s families, Zuckerberg also wrote about the importance of women in their families.
“We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives – sisters, mothers and friends. We can't wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman,” he wrote.
