Suspect in Custody

According to a Tuscaloosa Police spokesperson, the stand-off is over as the gunman has been taken into custody and all the hostages are safe.

FBI, SWAT Team Reaches Scene

A SWAT team has surrounded the building, according to the witnesses. Richardson said that the Tuscaloosa Police, County Sheriff’s Office, University of Alabama Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are working jointly at the scene and even the FBI has reached the scene.

The situation began at 8:30 am, local time and a campus-wide alert was sent out ordering people to stay clear of the area, according to local media outlet al.com

Tuscaloosa police Lt. Teena Richardson said the gunman entered the building and took all the employees as hostage.

A hostage stand-off has been reported at the Alabama Credit Union in the University of Alabama campus. Police has rushed to the spot.
