The two dead victims of Florida shooting were aged 14 and 18, police said. The victims have been identified, they added.
The shooting at the nightclub in Florida’s Fort Myer area is “not an act of terror”, police said.
On its Facebook page, Club Blu uploaded a message offering condolences:
Lee Memorial hospital, which is currently treating 16 victims, said that the youngest person is just 12 years old, while the oldest is 27, RT reported. One victim died at the hospital, sources said, while three others were admitted, one of them in critical condition.
Three people have been detained in relation to the shooting in Florida’s Club Blu nightclub. Investigators are seeking to determine a motive.
The area around the nightclub was “deemed safe” although roads in the vicinity were closed as the investigation continues.
According to a police statement, injuries among the shootout victims “ranged from minor to life-threatening” and a number of people were admitted to the hospital.

The shooting comes the month after a massacre at a nightclub in the Florida city of Orlando, in which a lone gunman killed 49 people in the deadliest mass shooting in US history.
Fort Myers Police has detained one person and believe that there were two other incidents in the vicinity which are correlated. One was at a parking lot in the residential area and the second area – where the person was detained – is identified as Ortiz Avenue.

While the details of the shooter and his motive are awaited, it is known that the local club was reportedly hosting a teens’ night.
