Down Detector also posted graphs of both the platforms facing outage around the same time.
With Instagram and Facebook down, netizens rushed to Twitter to check whether the issues were with their phones or with the respective social media platforms. This led to some hilarious memes.
Some netizens wondered if this was an elaborate plan by Facebook to force millennials to interact with their friends and family in the real world.
Earlier, on 18 November, there were several reports that many users had faced Facebook outage, primarily in the northeastern United States, according to Independent.
WhatsApp, which is the other major part of Facebook’s empire, does not appear to be affected by the crash.
