Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Monday that she welcomed the FBI to look at the emails in the latest twist in the controversy over her use of a private server while she was secretary of state.
"There is no case here," Clinton said at a rally at Kent State University, telling supporters she was confident the FBI would reach the same conclusion as it did in a year-long investigation - that there were no grounds for any charges.
Meanwhile, The White House refused to weigh in on the FBI decision to reopen its probe in the alleged email scandal of Hillary Clinton, the present Democratic presidential nominee, just days ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
The US President Barack Obama has full confidence in the FBI Director James Comey, who he believes is not trying to influence the elections, the White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters at his daily news conference.
"I'll neither defend nor criticise what Director Comey has decided to communicate to the public about this investigation," Earnest said.
He was responding to questions on a letter written by Comey to Congressional leaders last week that he is reopening the case against Clinton following finding of pertinent emails related to the case.
In the aftermath of the FBI's decision, Clinton's lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump has dropped considerably in recent polls indicating that the race to the White House has tightened.
