In its sternest warning to President-elect Donald Trump, China said that challenging Beijing’s interests in Taiwan will “lift a rock only to crush his toes”, The Indian Express reported.
Trump had angered Beijing by speaking to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-Wen telephonically, after his victory in the US Presidential Election.
Although Trump claimed that the Taiwanese leader had called him to congratulate him, he also made it clear that he will not give in to China’s dictation.
Going a step ahead, on Sunday, Trump tweeted saying that US necessarily doesn’t have to be bound by ‘One China’ policy, despite the White House and President Obama categorically maintaining that US is committed to the ‘One China’ Policy.
White House spokesperson Josh Earnest warned Trump that Taiwan is not a “bargaining chip”.
