Eight people were killed and five others injured after a bus was hijacked and set on fire in north-west China’s Shaanxi Province, state media reported on Friday. The incident took place at about 12:40 PM (local time) on Thursday near the entrance of a tunnel on the Fuzhou-Yinchuan Highway in Xi’an city, the capital of Shaanxi.
The police declined to release more details, citing ongoing criminal investigation, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
It is not clear whether it was a terrorist act or carried out by disgruntled individuals.
