CLAIM
A viral video which shows the Indian Army carrying three bodies of suspected terrorists has been doing the rounds on social media. It claims to be an ‘act of revenge’ for the Pulwama attack.
The following video has gory images, viewer discretion is advised.
The video is being shared across different social media platforms.
The video is gaining traction post the Pulwama attack.
TRUE OR FALSE?
While the content of the video is legitimate, the operation however did not occur after the Pulwama attack, as claimed on social media.
SM Hoax Slayer reported that the earliest upload of the video on YouTube was on 9 December 2018, proving that operation in the video happened much before the Pulwama attack.
Therefore, the claim of the incident occurring as an act of revenge for Pulwama is false.
CONFUSION OVER REAL PULWAMA NEWS?
There has been a recent trend where a lot of fake news is swirling around on social media after the terrorist attack against the CRPF jawans in Pulwama and this video is another hoax linked to Pulwama.
On 18 February, there was an encounter between the Indian Army and three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, among which included the alleged mastermind of the Pulwama attack. Three JeM members were killed, along with an Army Major, three jawans, one policeman and one civilian.
