CLAIM

A viral post of Bollywood actor and BJP leader Hema Malini has been doing the rounds on social media.

The post claims that Malini took a chopper to reach the farm where she was recently spotted cutting crops, as part of her election campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

It was shared by several individual users and pages on Facebook, including FekuExpress, where it had acquired close to 3,300 shares and almost 5,000 social media interactions at the time of writing this piece.

It was also widely shared on Twitter and Instagram:

A Patrika article, meanwhile, claimed that the woman seen in the photo on the right was not Malini but rather actress Jayaprada, who is also a BJP leader.

THE TRUTH

While Malini did recently join farmers and try her hand at cutting wheat crop in Uttar Pradesh, there is no record of her having flown there.

On reverse image searching the two images shared in the claim, it becomes clear that they were clicked at a much earlier date.

The photo on the left of Malini sitting in a chopper was snapped in 2015, when the BJP leader was campaigning ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls.

The image on the right is from her 2014 campaign trail in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
