CLAIM
A viral video claims that the ISKCON foundation has lent its support to Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress in the upcoming elections.
The video talks of a 'grand city' for ISCKON in Sridham Mayapur in West Bengal, and how this was realised by Mamata in her tenure as chief minister after she helped remove the 'land sealing', thus enabling the construction of the religious hub.
The 2-minute-13-second long video was shared by a Bengali news organisation 'Sangbad Pratidin' on its YouTube channel on 29 March.
India Today too did a story on this video, headlined "Jai Shree Krishna: TMC finally finds counter to BJP's Jai Shree Ram."
TRUE OR FALSE
The National Director for Communications at ISKCON, Yudhistir Govinda Das, issued a clarification dated 30 March, distancing the organisation from the video.
"The media reports are misleading and we would like to enquivocally state that ISKCON has no involvement whatsoever in the production/dissemination of the said video," said the press release.
While India Today has carried this clarification as part of their story, Sangbad Pratidin is yet to take the video down.
This story was earlier debunked by BOOM.
