A message offering massive discounts on the Amazon online mall is doing the rounds on WhatsApp. The message claims to offer up to 99 percent discount on a variety of products.
The “Shop Now” link mentioned in the message directs you to select a product, and then ‘buy’ it by providing personal details such as name, address, payment options etc. Following which, the users are asked to share the said message with minimum 10 friends on WhatsApp.
Several users took to Twitter to report and inform about the scam:
Amazon Help replied to one of the users saying that it has already shared the information with the concerned team.
As pointed out by Gadgets Now, the message mentions “Amazon Big Billion” offer even though “Big Billion” is a term that is used by Flipkart and not Amazon. The “Shop Now” link has since been deleted/suspended.
Previously, various other WhatsApp scams were reported, like the Ayushman Bharat scam. A viral message asked WhatsApp users to apply on a website to enjoy benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
