No Permission For Yogi Rally in Bengal Again, This Time in Purulia

This comes days after the state govt denied permission to land his helicopter to address a meet in South Dinajpur.

Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday, 5 February, was denied permission to hold a rally in West Bengal again – this time in Purulia.

The Superintendent of Police of Purulia district told News18 that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister cannot go ahead with the rally in the state.

This comes amid the full-blown tussle between the BJP-led Centre and Mamata Banerjee’s state government over a mix of issues, including the CBI versus Kolkata Police crisis.

The BJP leader has plans of landing in Jharkhand’s Bokaro, following which he will reach Purulia by road, reported ANI. The Bengal government has over the past few weeks denied permission to land helicopters to the BJP leaders.

The rally also comes just days after he addressed a public meeting in the state’s South Dinajpur district via audio link, after the state government denied permission to land his helicopter in the area.

What Happened During Dinajpur Rally?

“They didn't allow me to attend the rally, but [they] cannot stop my voice,” Adityanath said while addressing the rally via audio call. He added that the way Bengal’s administration is functioning was “not acceptable.”

His remarks came after the Mamata Banerjee-led government in Bengal reportedly denied Adityanath permission to hold his scheduled rallies in the state on Sunday.

The UP chief minister, who was scheduled to address the ‘Ganatantra Bachao Rally’ at Balurghat in South Dinajpur district and Raiganj in North Dinajpur district, at 1 pm and 3 pm respectively on Sunday, could not attend either of the rallies after permission was denied for his chopper to land near the venue.
