In a special debate on Priyanka Gandhi’s induction into active politics, The Quint’s Editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia said her debut with the roadshow has indeed been impressive.
As far as the Congress is concerned, party president Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that he is after stopping PM Modi from winning these elections.
After the roadshow, Rahul Gandhi said that in the upcoming elections, his party will “play on the front foot”, and “not on the back foot”. With this, he also said that the Congress party will fight to change its ideology in Uttar Pradesh. Rahul's statement shows that he does not want the Congress to be the B-team of any party.
He wants the party to be seen as a claimant to form the government in the state, the Congress also wants to exit the role of a supporting character with its alliance with the SP-BSP, but at the same time, assert its healthy relationship with Akhilesh and Mayawati.
In such a situation, Rahul decided to bring Priyanka and Jyotiraditya Scindia to play a huge role in UP. In the address after the roadshow, Rahul said that Priyanka and Scindia will fulfil the dreams of the youth and the farmers.
While the roadshow was a formal launch of Priyanka Gandhi’s active political career, Rahul Gandhi did not let slip even this chance to attack PM Modi for the Rafale deal.
