UP Dalit Family Borrowed Food to Feed Their ‘God’ Rahul Gandhi

The Congress is attempting to build a solid electoral base in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh. Party Vice President Rahul Gandhi is on an arduous 2,500-km-long door-to-door Mahayatra that began from Deoria in eastern UP.

The Mahayatra will involve Rahul visiting farm households in person in as many as 225 assembly constituencies and trying to gain their confidence in the party.

On Sunday Rahul and Congress’ UP in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad went on to have roti and potato choka with a dalit family in Mau, as a part of their political campaign.

But that’s only the story of the surface. It has come to light that, the family had to borrow ingredients from others to prepare the food for Rahul and are now in debt.

Swaminath and his family had borrowed flour and vegetables to be able to decently feed Rahul and Azad.

“Rahul ji enquired about our living and the problems we are facing. I told him that we hardly manage to meet our basic needs,” Swaminath told The Times of India.
