Hitting out at the Narendra Modi government for the arrest of Trinamool MP Tapas Paul in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said that her party will not be deterred by the Centre’s actions. In a statement, she said:
She added that political vendetta had hit a new low under Modi’s rule.
Earlier on Friday, Paul was arrested in connection with the alleged Rose Valley scam, one of the cases being probed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as part of the umbrella chit fund scams.
Paul, along with another TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, appeared at the CBI office on Friday.
CBI sources said Bandyopadhyay was called earlier, but he had cited the ongoing Parliamentary session to seek exemption from personal appearance.
