Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has filed a criminal defamation case against Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor-in-Chief of Zee News, for alleging that her Lok Sabha speech on the 'Seven Signs of Fascism' was plagiarised.
After the accusation, Moitra’s spirited defence of her speech had broken the internet once again. But now, the MP has decided to pursue legal action against the TV anchor. Taking cognisance of Moitra’s complaint, Metropolitan Magistrate Preeti Parewa listed the matter to be taken up on 20 July. Moitra’s statement will be recorded on that date.
Listen in to the original speech here:
After her Lok Sabha speech, Chaudhary had alleged that Moitra’s views were 'copy-pasted' from an article written by Martin Longman in reference to US President Donald Trump. Interestingly enough, Longman responded by rubbishing all claims of Moitra’s speech being plagiarised from his article.
