Sushma Swaraj arrived in Rome on Sunday, 17 June, for the first leg of her four nation visit to Italy, France, Luxembourg and Belgium. Swaraj will meet Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Italian counterpart Enzo Moavero Milanesi.
In the first engagement of the day, EAM Sushma Swaraj called on Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte and congratulated him on assuming the high position.
An External Affairs Ministry statement said that discussions focused on forging bilatetal cooperation across sectors were held.
Swaraj met her Italian counterpart Enzo Moavero Milanesi as well.
After interacting with the Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte and her counterpart Enzo Moavero Milanesi, Swaraj headed for the next-stop of her tour: Paris.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj arrived in Paris for the second leg of her four-nation visit.
Addressing the media with French Minister for Foreign Affairs External Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian in Paris, EAM Sushma Swaraj said that the mutual trust between India and France has deepened.
India will construct a war memorial at Villers Guislain, a town around 200 km from Paris, to highlight the contribution of the soldiers of the undivided India to the freedom of France in the World War I.
This was announced by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
"India will construct an Indian Armed Forces Memorial at Villers Guislain," she said.
During the World War I, Villers-Guislain had witnessed a fierce battle in which the British Indian cavalry regiments were heavily involved. The town was liberated on 29 September, 2018.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj left Paris and is headed to her next destination, Luxembourg.
In the first ever official visit by an India Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj received a warm welcome from Grand Dutchy of Luxembourg on her arrival.
Addressing the media at an event in Luxembourg, Swaraj said that the former and India would be celebrating 70 years of friendship in 2018.
ANI quotes Swaraj as saying that Luxembourg is also highly admired in India for the versatility of its steel sector, its “picturesque countryside” and the progress of its FinTech sector.
Swaraj confirmed that India and France were looking to strengthen their student exchange programme, by 2020.
“Student community is always at the heart of our efforts. A large number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between educational institutes of India and France,” said Swaraj at an event in Luxembourg, ANI reports.
She also suggested that a hostel run by Indians, should be opened in Luxembourg, which could aptly be named "India House".

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel and discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, space, digital India and people-to-people relationship.
Swaraj then had a productive meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn.
The two leaders discussed cooperation in trade and investment, steel and space, and exchanged views on strengthening India-EU relations, Kumar said.
India and Luxembourg are celebrating 70 years of establishment of their diplomatic relations.
