BSP supremo Mayawati on Sunday, 7 April, slammed both the BJP and the Congress at the first joint rally of the SP-BSP-RLD alliance in Uttar Pradesh in Deoband, less than a week before voting in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections.
"BJP will lose this election because of policies inspired by hatred.. especially their ‘chowkidar’ campaign... no matter how much the chhote, bade chowkidars try, the BJP will not win," Mayawati said.
SP President Akhilesh Yadav hit out at PM Modi, saying that those making ‘Sarab’ jibes are themselves drunk on power. RLD chief, on the other hand, said that the achhe din PM Modi talked about in 2014, was for himself only.

RLD spokesperson Anil Dubey claimed the impact of the alliance is evident by the irresponsible statements by BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said the rally will give a further momentum to the campaign of the "grand alliance", which he claimed is very comfortably placed in the state.

After cobbling together the alliance, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had announced that joint rallies will be held in different parts of the state.
Yadav and Mayawati had together drawn up a strategy to start the campaign during 'Navratri', which began on Saturday, from western UP, a SP leader said.
Yadav, Mayawati and RLD's Ajit Singh will address 11 joint rallies between 7 April and 16 May, a spokesperson said, as per PTI.
Ahead of Sunday’s show of strength, Samajwadi Party candidate and sitting MP Dimple Yadav, on Saturday, 6 April, filed her nomination papers for the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat in the presence of BSP general secretary Satish Misra and her husband and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Dimple, a two-time lawmaker from Kannauj, claimed that the victory margin will be "bigger" this time with the SP and the BSP entering into an alliance for the polls.

SP-BSP-RLD’s joint rally kicked off in Saharanpur’s Deoband on Sunday afternoon with Rashtriya Lok Dal president Ajit Singh and vice-president Jayant Chaudhary taking the stage.
Despite long-standing differences between BSP supremo Mayawati and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, supporters of the latter were present en masse at the SP-BSP-RLD rally in Deoband.
Opening the SP-BSP-RLD’s first rally in Deoband, BSP supremo Mayawati took the stage and said that the Mahagathbandhan will soon throw out the BJP government.
“Jumlebaazi won’t do,” she said. “All small and big chowkidars will struggle to keep themselves safe.”
Drama of 'chowkidari' will not save BJP, Mayawati added. She also said that BJP’s false claims of being a nationalist party will also be exposed.
SP chief Mayawati slammed the Congress’ manifesto and the proposed NYAY scheme, saying it is all an act.
“Don’t fall for their false promises. These parties only remember the poor during election time,” she said.
Mayawati said that the Congress party is not strong enough to take on the BJP and implored those present at the rally to vote for the SP-BSP-RLD alliance.
“The Congress party has fielded candidates from such castes and religions which will benefit the BJP. Therefore, I am warning members of the Muslim community,” she added, as per ANI.
While addressing the SP-BSP-RLD rally in Deoband, Mayawati slammed the BJP for 'misusing' the Pulwama terror attack.
“BJP is misusing the Pulwama issue... GST and note ban caused huge job losses. Don't allow these people to come back,” she said.
Taking the stage after Mayawati, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav took aim at the BJP, saying, “Politicians become chowkidars only during election time”.
“They failed on their electoral promises and have no answers... it is time to snatch the Chowkidar’s chowki (seat),” he said.
"Those who make SARAB jibes are drunk on power," he added.
Akhilesh Yadav, like Mayawati, slammed the Congress party and said that it was no different than the BJP.
“Congress does not want change in Uttar Pradesh... it just wants to form government in the state,” he said. “Congress’ strategy is the same as BJP’s strategy.”
He also said that the BJP has divided India more than the British did.
RLD’s Ajit Singh took the stage after the SP and BSP chiefs and said that the upcoming elections are a way to save the nation.
“PM Modi had promised that each citizen will get Rs 15 Lakh in their bank accounts. Was the PM lying? Did his parents not teach him to tell the truth?” Singh added, as per ANI.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer on Sunday, 7 April, took cognisance of BSP chief Mayawati's speech at Saharanpur's Deoband.
The Officer has sought a report from the local administration, ANI reported.

RLD chief Ajit Singh on Sunday, 7 April took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him what he has done in the five years he has been in power.
At a joint rally of the SP-BSP-RLD alliance, he said, "What has Prime Minister Modi done in five years? He wasn't talking about your 'achche din', but his own 'achche din'." The BJP came to power in 2014 because of riots as they had no presence in the western part of Uttar Pradesh, Singh claimed.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, at the Deoband rally said that the grand alliance of opposition parties in UP will ensure the removal of all 'chowkidars' and the country will get a new prime minister after the Lok Sabha polls.
"In 2014, we trusted a 'chaiwala' (tea seller), the poll promise of crores of jobs and so many other promises. Now we are being told to trust the 'chowkidar'. We will ensure removal of 'chowkidars' (watchmen) from all the 'chowkis' (post)," he said at the joint rally of the SP, BSP and RLD here.
"We want to appeal to the BJP... during this holy period of Navratri, you should pledge not to lie. We want to make sure all our candidates win by a huge margin, so that the country can get a new prime minister," he said with BSP chief Mayawati and RLD's Ajit Singh present at the dias.
