After a 37-year-old RSS member was hacked to death by two assailants in Bengaluru on Sunday, the local RSS unit has called for “massive protests” at 125 different places in the city on Thursday. The announcement was made on Twitter.

The victim, identified as R Rudresh, was reportedly returning home from an RSS meeting and march-past with his friend Jairam. Two bike-borne men rode up to them and attacked Rudresh with a sharp weapon in Shivajinagar. Before speeding away, one of the bike-borne assailants even got off the scooter to kick him, reported Bangalore Mirror.

Rudresh was rushed to Bowring Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. He is survived by his wife Divya and two children.

Recently, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was hacked to death in Kerala's Kannur district.

Probe Underway

Police and administration had to deploy Rapid Action Force (RAF) contingents along with police vigilance to avert any flare-up of violence in Shivajinagar, reported The Times of India.

“The assault occurred between 12.30 pm and 12.45 pm when he was riding his scooter on Kamaraj Road. A murder case has been registered at the Commercial Street police station and we are probing the incident,” said P Harisekaran, Additional Commissioner of Police (east).

Police said that six special teams have been formed to nab the killers. However, no one has identified the assailants as they were wearing helmets, reported The New Indian Express.
