Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday said he supports "no one" in the fray for the 12 April by-election to the RK Nagar Assembly constituency in Chennai.
The by-election is being held to fill the vacancy caused by the death of former chief minister Jayalalithaa.
On Tuesday, noted music composer and BJP candidate for the by-election to RK Nagar assembly constituency Gangai Amaran received wishes from superstar Rajinikanth.
During the brief meeting, Rajinikanth wished Gangai Amaran “success” in his political innings, the latter's son Venkat Prabhu said in a tweet.
Gangai Amaran, who joined the BJP in 2014, has been fielded by the party to contest the RK Nagar seat, where the by-election is being held to fill the vacancy caused by the death of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
The music director had also lauded AIADMK rebel leader O Panneerselvam for his defiance of Sasikala.
The RK Nagar polls is also significant because Amaran will face off against Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar, and the DMK's Maruthu Ganesh.
