Rahul Gandhi, vice president of Congress, held a rally in the Dadri region of poll-bound Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The government’s move to demonetise Rs 500 and 1,000 notes was the target of his speech at the Dadri anaaj mandi. Gandhi dumped Prime Minister Narendra Modi's narrative behind the note ban, and said it was done to waive off loans to big industrialists.

PM Narendra Modi waged a war against poor people on 8 November. Do you see even one rich person standing in line?

He also interacted with the farmers at the market and told the people that the government decision was a complete failure. He said Modi wanted to make the economy cashless and he succeeded, since no one has cash anymore.

You are allowed only Rs 2,000 and the thieves who want to withdraw Rs 50-100 crore are doing so and leaving from the bank’s back door.

Gandhi then added that the people who have taken money from the banks are marketing for Modi. Therefore, PM Modi cannot bring back the money and made the people stand in line to make the banks function, he added.
