As the Gujarat elections draw closer, and demonetisation approaches its one year anniversary on 8 November, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has attacked the BJP government over GST and the note ban, once again.
Gandhi also reiterated the Opposition’s call for protests on 8 November, stating that it will be observed as a “black day”. The announcements came after the Congress Vice President met with the party’s general secretaries at the party headquarters at New Delhi’s 24 Akbar Road.
Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surejwala also held a press conference to announce candle marches and rallies on 8 November, which will mark the first anniversary of demonetisation.
“The design and architecture of GST is in a mess. It is so confusing that those who impose it don’t get it, those who pay for it don’t get it either. The unorganised sector is the worst hit. The goods of mass consumption is being taxed in a way that it is leading to inflation of everyday items,” Surjewala said.
