Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the chiefs of the defence forces on Tuesday to review the security situation along the LoC after the surgical strikes on 29 September.

PM Modi was briefed on the border situation and the preparedness of the armed forces. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval also attended the meeting.

The meeting comes after the surgical strikes conducted by India on 29 September, when the army targeted terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This was seen as a response to the attacks by terrorists on an Indian Army base in Uri that killed 20 soldiers.

There have been more that 60 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the LoC and the International Border since the surgical strikes.
