Two days before President Pranab Mukherjee’s term officially ends on 25 July, parliamentarians will be presenting him with a coffee table book as a farewell gift.

On 23 July evening, a farewell has been organised for the president. MPs will hand over a coffee table book with their signatures to him.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan told reporters

Mukherjee's term ends on 24 July and the next president will take oath on 25 July.

The farewell is slated to take place at the Central Hall of the Parliament, according to tradition. Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan will deliver a farewell speech in Mukherjee's honour.

After the event is over, Mukherjee will likely attend a high tea in the courtyard outside the Central Hall.

Following his retirement, Mukherjee is expected to shift to an official bungalow at Rajaji Marg, the erstwhile residence of former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

The Signature Book will be kept in the Central Hall from 17 July, the day when MPs and MLAs cast their vote to choose between the two Presidential nominees – Ram Nath Kovind and Meira Kumar. The MPs can sign the book in the interim.
