PM Modi has arrived in Mangaluru in Karnataka to offer prayers at Shri Manjunatha Swami temple at Dharmasthala. According to ANI, he will also be addressing a public meeting there.
PM Modi addressed a public meeting at the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development project in Ujire, and expressed his happiness for being able to offer prayers to Lord Manjunatha.
Modi, in his address, talked about the benefits of micro irrigation, and said that a lot of change can be brought about by adopting “per drop, more crop.”
“We must give importance to living in harmony with nature and not think about short-term gains,” he said, adding that there was a need to reduce the usage of Urea.
The Prime Minister also spoke about how he is never going to let the nation face destruction and that he has never learnt how to live selfishly.
Modi launched a veiled but scathing attack on the Congress over corruption in development funds, asking which was the "hand" that reduced every rupee of government money to 15 paise before it reached the beneficiary, IANS reported.
He also took a dig at the opposition for its criticism of demonetisation aimed at making the economy less dependent on cash, saying even parents limit cash given to their children because it spoils them.
Without naming Rajiv Gandhi, Modi recalled that a former Prime Minister had said that from every rupee sanctioned by the government, only 15 paise reached its beneficiary in a village.
"One of the Prime Ministers had said every rupee is reduced to 15 paise when it reaches a village after getting sanctioned from Delhi. Which 'hand' reduces the rupee?" he asked, in a sarcastic reference to the Congress election symbol.

Talking about India’s strength as a nation, the Prime Minister reminded his audience of the Doklam standoff with China. He said that despite China being a powerful nation, in Doklam, the whole world witnessed how India solved the situation with patience.
