Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Gujarat on Sunday for the third time this month, where he inaugurated and lay foundation stones for a number of projects in Bhavnagar and Vadodara districts.
Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Rs 615-crore 'roll-on, roll-off (ro-ro)' ferry service between Ghogha in Bhavnagar district and Dahej in Bharuch in the Gulf of Cambay.
After undertaking a journey to Dahej from Ghogha on the ferry, he left for Vadodara, where he inaugurated and lay the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 1,140 crore.
Addressing a public rally in Vadodara, PM Modi took a dig at the opposition for targeting the Election Commission over its delay in announcing the dates for elections in the state.
Further stating his government’s priority is development, Modi said that no ‘single rupee’ will be given to states that do not take up development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vadodra where he will lay the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 1,140 crore.
Upon reaching Dahej after embarking on a trip aboard the Ro-Ro Ferry service, PM Modi lauded the service assuring that it has ‘opened a new chapter for coastal tourism’.
He also opined that the youth of the state are bound to benefit from the service as it will provide employment opportunities.
Claiming that ports have been neglected in India, Modi said that waterways transportation could halve logistical costs.
Pushing for more ports, he said they are a necessity for economic development as they act as a medium for trade. “If connectivity is faulty, then the nation’s economic development will be weak”, said Modi.
Dedicating the Rs 615-crore project to the people of Gujarat, Modi termed the ferry service a ‘unique, one-of-its-kind project’, which is also the biggest of its kind in South Asia.
He also announced that the project will bring the people of the state closer to each other, reducing the time taken to travel between Dahej and Ghogha from seven hours to a mere one hour.
Announcing that he had laid the foundation stone for the project during his tenure as CM of Gujarat, Modi accused the then UPA government of stalling the project.
He also announced that the government was now planning to link a number of other places through ferries.
PM Narendra Modi has arrived in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He was received by Chief Minister Rupani and Deputy CM Nitin Patel.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the Rs 615-crore 'roll-on, roll-off (ro-ro)' ferry service between Ghogha in Bhavnagar district and Dahej in Bharuch in the Gulf of Cambay.
The prime minister had called the ferry service, which will reduce the distance between the two towns from 310 kilometres by road to 30 kilometres, his "dream project" while addressing a gathering at Gandhinagar on Monday.
He will address a gathering in Ghogha and undertake a journey to Dahej from Ghogha on the ferry.
Politics of ‘vikas’ will win over dynasty politics, said PM Modi in Gandhinagar.
The Prime Minister said that BJP challenges the Opposition to fight the Gujarat elections on the basis of development. He excoriated the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family, accusing it of disliking Gujarat and Gujaratis who were an “eyesore” for them.
Speaking in Gujarati, PM Modi defended GST, saying that all parties decided on it. He said the Congress has no right to criticise it now.
He also alleged a “conspiracy” was hatched by the Congress to put him in jail, in an apparent reference to accusations of his complicity in the 2002 post-Godhra riots.
Accusing the main opposition party of pursuing “negative politics”, Modi dared the Congress to fight the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls on the development plank.
Congress, he alleged, always avoided contesting elections with focus on development.
Amit Shah is addressing the gathering at Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address.
“Gujarat has always showered its blessings on the BJP,” Shah said, adding that his party would will win 150 seats in the Assembly elections.
Shah mocked Rahul Gandhi saying that the latter hasn’t been able to get a collectorate office made in Amethi and is questioning the BJP’s work in Gujarat.
Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel, is addressing the rally at Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan in Gandhinagar. PM Narendra Modi will also speak.
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat to attend the Mahasammelan, Rahul Gandhi tweeted that the “jumla” or, empty promise, will reign supreme in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on 15 October, one day before the ‘Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan’ address, and thanked the people of Gujarat for “blessing” BJP for decades.
He tweeted that he will be present in Gandhinagar for the Mahasammelan on 16 October which “will bring together lakhs of BJP Karyakartas from across Gujarat”.
The Mahasammelan comes as a conclusion to the two Gujarat Gaurav Yatras, which reportedly covered 4500 kms and 149 out of the 182 assembly seats.
He tweeted that the yatras showcased the “spirit of Jan Shakti and reflected Gujarat's strong faith in politics of development and good governance”.
