As Results Come In, PM Modi Celebrates Twin Victory for BJP

As the results for the Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh showed a victory for the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was pleased with the way his party had performed in his home state and Congress stronghold Himachal Pradesh. The Prime Minister called the results for both the states a double victory even before the results were final.

Congratulating his party over politics of good governance, Modi tweeted, "Election results in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh indicate a strong support for politics of good governance and development.”

Thanking BJP workers for their hard work in both the states, the Prime Minister said, "I salute the hard working BJP workers in these states for their hard work, which has led to these impressive victories."

Modi also addressed the people of both states in his tweets. He said, "I bow to the people of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh for their affection and trust in BJP."

Modi gave people a guarantee that he will work towards the development of both states and their people.

I assure them that we will leave no stone unturned in furthering the development journey of these states and serve the people tirelessly.

BJP president Amit Shah also tweeted as the vote count poured in, congratulating his party for winning in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. He termed the victory in both the states as a victory of PM Narendra Modi's development agenda against the politics of casteism and appeasement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to visit Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Tuesday to review the situation arising in the aftermath of Cyclone Ockhi.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also update himself as regards the status of the relief operations at Kavaratti, Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram.

He will meet officials and public representatives as also the cyclone victims, including the fishermen, and farmers' delegations, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's office said on Monday.

The statement also pointed out that the Centre had released the second instalment from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for Kerala and Tamil Nadu to supplement the efforts of these states in dealing with the situation.
