Months before the Uttar Pradesh elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again raised the issue of construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
In addition to Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma’s visit to Ayodhya for prospects of a museum and Union Minister Uma Bharti saying the disputed land belongs to Ram Mandir, BJP MP Vinay Katiyar demanded that the temple be built at priority.
Katiyar urged the Modi government to introduce a Bill in the Lok Sabha facilitating the construction of Ram Temple at the site.
He went ahead and said that a museum won’t do and building the temple is a must, referring to Mahesh Sharma’s plans for a museum in Ayodhya.
He also told CNN News18 that the Samajwadi Party government is diluting the temple issue.
The BJP, however, insists that the issue has nothing to do with the state elections and Katiyar also said that his demand is not linked to the polls.
