AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is struggling to keep the Party’s inner strife under wraps. After Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, it is senior AAP leader Mayank Gandhi who has defied a party gag order and released details of how the two leaders were sacked.
Gandhi, in his blog says the sacking of Bhushan and Yadav from the Political Affairs Committee was uncalled for -
“I was taken aback by the resolution of removing them publicly, especially as they themselves were willing to leave. Also, this decision to sack them was against the overwhelming sentiments of volunteers from all over the world”
“Yogendra said that he understood that Arvind did not want them in PAC, as it was difficult to him to work together. He and Prashant would be happy to stay out of PAC, but they should not be singled out”
Mayank Gandhi also reveals that Kejriwal met him on the night of February 26 along with other members of AAP’s National Executive. He claims Kejriwal told him that he will not be able to work as AAP’s National Convenor, if Yadav and Prashant Bhushan remained part of the PAC. That he says, was how Kejriwal set the agenda for the NE meet on March 4.
While Gandhi agreed that the two senior AAP members can step down from the PAC, he claims the manner and intention behind the resolution was not acceptable, which is why the veteran AAP leader from Maharashtra broke the party’s gag order -
“Last night I was told that disciplinary action would be taken against me, if I revealed anything. So be it - my first allegiance is to the higher truth”
He also expressed his dissent towards Kerjiwal, especially at the manner in which the AAP chief had allowed transparency to become a casualty -
“Arvind used to say that it was his primary duty to inform the nation about the proceedings, as he was not a leader but a representative of the people. Truth and transparency was all that he had”
Gandhi concluded his blog post saying that while there may be some repercussions overt and covert against him, he will not stand for wrong doing.
