BJP MP and singer Hans Raj Hans while performing at an event in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) said the institution should be renamed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Hans, who is a legislator from North West Delhi, also hit out at the Nehru-Gandhi family at the event. His remarks were echoed by BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who was also performing at the event, which was organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Speaking about the Kashmir issue, Hans that his generation was “paying for the mistake of our elders.”
Speaking to reporters after the event, the MP said he had “heard a lot” about JNU, “but now changes have come due to the efforts made by the Modi government.”
Echoing his thoughts, BJP Delhi Chief Manoj Tiwari said that he was seeing a “positive JNU.”
“In the past some have given slogans of ‘Bharat Tere Tukde Honge’ in the University but this institution has grown and changed with time. We heard students raise slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’,” Tiwari said.
