Two days after Jammu and Kashmir was placed under governor’s rule, an all-party meeting is currently underway at Governor N N Vohra’s residence in Srinagar.
This is the fourth time that the state has been placed under governor’s rule in the past decade.
Governor NN Vohra had, earlier in the day, met the outgoing Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbobba Mufti at his residence in Srinagar to discuss the political situation in the state.
Vohra said that that Mehbooba referred to certain important issues, relating to the growth and development of the state, which could not be finalised during her tenure and urged the governor to consider the same for early decisions, news agency PTI reported.
The governor discussed with the former chief minister the need for all political parties and social organisations to join hands to regain the trust of the youth and restore normalcy in the Valley, the spokesman said.
Former chief minister of J&K Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief GA Mir, and BJP's Sat Sharma are in attendance at the all-party meeting called by Governor NN Vohra.
The all-party meeting called by Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra has started at his residence. Former IPS officer Vijay Kumar has joined Governor Vohra as an advisor.
The all-party meet that was supposed to be held by J&K Governor NN Vohra in the evening today has been cancelled, media reports said.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has called an all-party meeting in Srinagar to discuss the situation in the wake of the implementation of governor's rule in the state, officials said today.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor's rule on Wedesday, a day after the PDP-BJP government collapsed as the BJP snapped its three-year-old alliance with the regional party citing "larger national interest" and "deteriorating security situation".
The Governor also placed the legislative assembly in suspended animation till the proclamation of Governor's rule is revoked or varied by a subsequent proclamation, according to a gazette notification. The six-year term of the current Assembly ends in March 2021.
According to the officials, the governor has called a meeting of all party heads, including the heads of the state units of the national parties, to discuss the situation in the state.
They said the meeting will take place in the evening.
