Days before the Himachal Pradesh elections, in an interview to The Quint at his residence, Holly Lounge, in Shimla, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son, Vikramaditya, says he wasn’t eager to enter politics.

Vikramaditya, who is 28-years-old, is contesting from rural Shimla where his father is the sitting MLA and commands considerable influence. In the interview, he mentions that he stood from the particular seat as party leaders may have considered it to be a safe choice.

On asking him if it was the right time to make a debut, Vikramaditya says:

I really wasn’t that eager (on making a debut now), but it’s something you have to do at some point. Being in the organisation is one thing, but to survive active politics, it’s important to make an electoral debut as soon as possible.

He spoke about the cons of belonging to a royal family, what a day of campaign looks like, and how important social media is to his campaign too. Watch the full interview above.
