“Hahaha... khareed nahi sake toh neechta pe uttrey hai” (Couldn’t buy me out so they have stooped to such low levels) this was Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas’s reaction on Twitter after being summoned by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) over a complaint made by a female party member.
The female member has also claimed that she had been threatened by Vishwas and his coterie of men, after she approached him to clear the air about their relationship.
Vishwas has also accused the BJP of spreading false rumours and making personal attacks in an attempt to defame AAP.
According to reports, an AAP member has reached out to the DCW and filed a complaint against Vishwas, alleging that he has refused to ‘publicly’ deny that he did not have an affair with her.
In the interview, the female AAP member revealed that the two were working together during the time that Vishwas was contesting the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from Amethi against Congress VP Rahul Gandhi and BJP leader Smriti Irani.
She claims that she later found out that there were rumours circulating about Vishwas’s wife having apparently caught him and her red-handed in in a compromising position in Amethi, and that there were pictures circulating of her as the one caught with Vishwas.
The member also told Zee News that Vishwas had threatened that she too would be killed like AAP leader Santosh Koli, if she spoke up. Notably, Koli, who was to contest the Delhi Assembly polls, was killed in a road accident in 2013.
The AAP member also claimed after the LS elections, she along with her husband and children went to Vishwas, pleading with him to clear the rumours about him and her, but he refused to do so.
It was this, she bemoans, that led her husband and children to abandon her. Her husband has also threatened to divorce her, she claims, if the rumours are not cleared up. According to the female member, she had spoken to Kejriwal about this, but he had paid no attention.
Here’s what she had to say.
Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Barkha Singh stated that the girl has written a complaint letter to both the Police Commissioner and to AAP founder and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The Commission has sent a summon to Kumar Vishwas and his wife, and asked them to appear before it on Tuesday at 3 pm.
