Former finance minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday, 27 November, attacked BJP over the manner in which Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra chief minister.
"It is sad that the President is involved. I am deeply sad that the President was woken up at 4 in the morning," Chidambaram said while stepping out of a crowded courtroom in New Delhi, PTI reported.
Earlier in the day, Chidambaram had tweeted, lashing out at the “egregious violation” of the Constitution in Maharashtra, calling it an "assault" on the office of the President.
The former finance minister, who is lodged in jail in cases of corruption and money laundering, also extended greetings to the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition that is set to form government in Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar extended Chidambaram's judicial custody till 11 December in the INX Media money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.
