Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has written to top political leaders and social activists, inviting them to an open debate on Land Bill.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi had earlier led the Opposition’s march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, protesting against the Bill. Anna Hazare too has been leading a farmer’s agitation.
I have requested the prominent leaders of political parties and social activists, including Sonia Gandhi and Anna Hazare to come on a common platform and have a debate. In fact, even members of the press are welcome to join the debate. Even NGOs have been invited.
– Nitin Gadkari
Gadkari’s letter came after Sonia Gandhi asked Anna Hazare to join forces with the Opposition against the NDA government.
Meanwhile the Congress President wrote to Anna Hazare, as Zee News reports:
I have got your letter dated March 14 in which you have talked about your doubts about the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015. I am in agreement with your views that the Ordinance of the NDA government and the amendment bill, which is now before Parliament, is not in the interest of farmers.
