Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonisation plan has united the entire opposition against the BJP. The Congress, TMC, RJD, JD(U),JMM, CPI, CPI(M) and other opposition parties met on Monday to draft a joint strategy for the winter session of Parliament.
The opposition has accused the Modi government for causing suffering to the common man in the name of curbing black money.
AAP has convened an urgent meeting of the Delhi assembly on Tuesday to discuss the chaos following demonetisation in the capital. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said the central government implemented the move without proper planning.
West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Bannerjee joined her arch rival Sitaram Yechury of the CPM in criticising Modi’s remark about the poor “sleeping peacefully” after demonetisation.
Banerjee, who has led the opposition's attack against the Modi government on the demonetisation issue, had said she was not averse to working with arch rival CPI(M) and other opposition parties like Congress, SP and BSP in fighting the "anti-people" government which has imposed an "undeclared emergency".
BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh in turn attacked Banerjee for her party members’ alleged involvement in the Saradha and Narada scams.
BSP chief Mayawati too hit out at Modi over his comments about the poor and said the common people are being made to suffer “in the name of demonetisation”.
UP CM Akhilesh Yadav slammed Modi for being unable to provide a quick solution to the situation.
“First, he said things will get better in a few days, then he said it will take 10 days. And in Goa, he said it will take 50 days,” said Yadav.
