A candle march was held by the Congress at Red Fort in Delhi to protest against the water crisis, led by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on 28 May.
Rahul Gandhi at the protest said, “I indulge in politics based on Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, I can never indulge in the politics of lies and false promises”, after commenting on the AAP and the BJP governments, saying that “the leaders think they can fool people every time.”
Amid sloganeering against the AAP and BJP, Gandhi said that despite drought across Maharashtra, the two-year-old BJP government was celebrating at India Gate, with “functions and dancing”.
He also said that the Congress party would return to power in the forthcoming local body polls, and also during the next assembly elections.
