A cartoon, allegedly mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has become the centre of controversy with a case being registered against Nitesh Patel, a member of Aam Aadmi Party, reported Times of India.
The cartoon was posted on Twitter, and allegedly showed the PM encouraging enmity between groups. BJP spokesman IP Singh lodged an FIR at Vibhuti Khand police station in Uttar Pradesh.
The police station house officer, Kunwar Pratap Singh said Patel had “uploaded a vulgar cartoon in an anti-national way.”
The police have reportedly registered a case and imposed section 125 of Representation of People Act and 67 A of IT act.
