BJP Legislators Unanimously Decide to Form Govt With PDP in J&K

J&K Deadlock Broken: BJP leaders unanimously agree on the alliance with PDP and to back Mufti as Chief Minister.

After a two-month deadlock after the death of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Jammu and Kashmir has been under Governor’s rule. The BJP president in J&K has said there will be no change in the alliance agenda and that BJP will back Mehbooba Mufti as a chief minister candidate, making her the first woman CM of Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP and PDP will form a government based on the Agenda of Alliance. There will be no change in Agenda of Alliance. BJP legislators have unanimously decided to form a govt with the PDP. Will extend support to PDP’s CM candidate. Leaders of both BJP and PDP will go to the Governor in few days and present the proposal to form a government.

Sharma also mentioned that Dr Nirmal Singh will continue to serve as Deputy Chief Minister.

The leaders of BJP and PDP will meet J&K Governor NN Vohra Friday evening, to decide the next course of action for the alliance.

Ram Madhav, national general secretary of BJP and Jitendra Singh are to meet with BJP legislators in Jammu later on Friday.

On Thursday, PDP legislature party met in Srinagar over government formation, she was unanimously elected as the leader of PDP legislature party.

The development comes three days after Mufti met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. Mufti described the meeting with Modi as ‘positive.’
