The final report of the “door-to-door” probe on the BJP’s list of 346 families who had allegedly fled Kairana in Uttar Pradesh was presented by the Shamli district administration on Thursday.
The report, according to The Times of India, indicates that only three families out of the 346 left Kairana due to fear of persecution. Twenty-seven of the families named in the list happen to still be in Kairana, reported The Times of India, while the other families left Kairana over a span of several years, for varied reasons like “business, health, and education”.
Most of the families who moved also moved only 10 kms away, to neighbouring Shamli.
Earlier, BJP MLA from Kairana, Hukum Singh – an accused in the Muzaffarnagar communal violence case – had alleged that 346 families had been forced to flee the town where the Muslim population stands at 85 percent.
