The Rajya Sabha passed the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2014 on 3 August to facilitate the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The government is aiming for an implementation date of 1 April 2017. This means that it will be at least a year before you will have one tax instead of multiple taxes on your bills.

The GST has to clear these 12 hurdles before becoming a reality.
