Awadh university clarified on Wednesday that the mark sheet obtained by AAP leader Jitender Singh Tomar does not match the roll number series that was provided. The media in-charge of the university SN Shukla said that one Pradeep Kumar had filed an RTI application which led to the revelation.

For the verification of Jitender Singh Tomar’s BSC 1st year & 2nd year mark sheets and respective degree, Mr Pradeep Kumar attached copies of mark sheet and degree with his RTI application. After thorough investigation, Mr AM Ansari released an official letter to Mr Pradeep Kumar on 22nd January 2015 saying that the mark sheet does not match the roll number series given.

Former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar has approached a sessions court in New Delhi challenging his arrest in the alleged fake degree case.

In an application filed before the sessions court, Tomar alleged that police had arrested him on Tuesday in violation of prescribed procedure under the law.

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Jain refused to give an urgent hearing to Tomar’s plea and said that the matter will be heard on Thursday. 49-year-old Tomar was arrested on Tuesday by Delhi Police on a FIR registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) for allegedly forging documents, including educational degrees, to enrol as an advocate.

He was remanded to four-day police custody till June 13 by a magisterial court.

An FIR was registered against Tomar on June 8 at Hauz Khas police station and he was booked for alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents as genuine, forgery with intent to cheat and criminal conspiracy.
