After actor Vishal on Monday filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate for the RK Nagar bypolls, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accorded him an enthusiastic welcome. Kejriwal took to Twitter to congratulate him and invite him to meet him in Delhi.

Vishal responded, thanking Kejriwal, saying #YoungstersAreTheFuture.

Vishal had earlier said he looked up to Kejriwal.

I haven’t met Arvind Kejriwal but he is a people’s leader. I’m not going to be a politician and will remain a commoner.
News18 quoted him as saying

Vishal filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the RK Nagar bypoll on 4 December.

The actor announced his political debut by tweeting about his plans to contest the bypolls, necessitated by the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa.

He said he didn't want to "sit and watch anymore." Speaking to TNM, he said:

I thought it was time. I can’t sit and watch anymore. These people did not even conduct civic polls. As a citizen, one does not even know who is supposed to pick up garbage outside the house. That’s the condition now. If change has to come, it can come through anyone. It can even come through Vishal.

Kejriwal has recently been looking southward. Earlier in September, Kejriwal and Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan met in Chennai, at the actor’s residence.

Following the meeting, the two addressed a joint press conference in which they both expressed that they will keep meeting in the future and exchange ideas.

The politically-active actor and fimmaker has for long hinted that he may join or launch a political party, but not in haste.
