BJP Leaders March to Protest CPI(M)'s Alleged Killing of Party Workers

Union ministers Jitendra Singh and Vijay Goel along with other BJP leaders marched in Kerala to protest the CPI(M)'s alleged targeting of party workers in Kerala.

BJP president Amit Shah had on Tuesday flagged off a 'Jan Raksha Yatra' in Kerala and had announced that a 'padyatra' will be held in all the state capitals from Wednesday over the issue of political violence in Kerala.

The violence by the Left in Kerala is a "blot on Indian democracy", Singh said, while taking part in the protest.

The violence is not only against the BJP but also against other political parties that believe in democracy, Singh said.

Singh claimed that the BJP protest was aimed at preserving the Gandhian principle of non-violence, democratic values, the country’s culture.

He also urged other political parties to pay heed to the violence allegedly perpetrated by "the Communists in Kerala".

As many as 120 BJP workers have been killed in Kerala, the BJP has alleged.

'No Place For Violence in Democracy'

Speaking at the yatra, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that there was no place for violence in a democracy.

This yatra is a mirror for communist govts in Kerala,WB and Tripura. They should put an end to political killings. There is no place for violence in a democracy, but political killings are continuing in Kerala.

Three BJP Workers Attacked in Kerala by Suspected CPI(M) Workers

Three BJP workers were attacked by suspected CPI(M) workers in Neeleswaram town in Kasargod district on Monday night, the police said.

The attack came ahead of the launch of the Jan Raksha Yatra by the saffron party.

The attack took place around 9:30 pm when BJP workers were decorating a part of the National Highway-66 for the 15-day march, which will be launched by BJP chief Amit Shah.

The three injured BJP workers were being treated at a private hospital in Neeleswaram, the police said.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident.

BJP Kasargod district secretary Sreekanth alleged that nearly 20 CPI(M) workers attacked BJP activists without provocation, while they were decorating a road side at Neeleswaram market.

Flex boards, tube-lights and a two-wheeler were also damaged, he said.

CPI(M) cadres, who cannot tolerate the "growing political influence" of the BJP in the state were indulging in such attacks, he alleged.

Amit Shah Offers Prayers at Rajarajeswara Temple

BJP President Amit Shah offered prayers at the famous Rajarajeswara Temple in Taliparamba near Kannur, Kerala on Tuesday.

Shah is in the state to inaugurate the BJP's Jan Raksha Yatra in Payyannur in Kannur district.

The senior BJP leader arrived at Mangalore airport early morning and reached the temple by road from Bakel, an official in the party's state media department said.

He was accompanied by state BJP leaders and was received by the temple authorities.

After offering prayers, Shah proceeded to Payyannur to launch the 15-day march in the state.

The Jan Raksha Yatra (people's protection march) will travel through the state before culminating in Thiruvananthapuram on 17 October.

The BJP has alleged that as many as 120 BJP workers – 84 in Kannur alone – have been killed in the state since 2001, 14 of them in the chief minister's home town since he took over the reins last year.

The CPI(M) has, in turn, accused the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of resorting to violence and denied the involvement of its government and leadership in the killings.
