Soon there will be a new enterant in the host of party sponsored TV channels, as the Tamil Nadu chief minister is set to launch a new television channel and a newspaper for the All Indian Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
Work on the launch for both the TV channel and the newspaper has been on for a few months now, according to a Mint report. The newspaper is said to be named Namathu Amma, whereas the TV channel's name is yet to be announced.
Earlier, Namathu MGR and Jaya TV served as mouthpieces for the party, but following a split in the party because Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran, both platforms have become too critical of the party.
Both the platforms are controlled by Sasikala’s family and were critical of the Palaniswami led faction it sidelined Sasikala and Dhinakaran.
Reports about the new AIADMK TV channel and newspaper have been coming in since October, after the Palaniswami government garnered negative publicity in both previously controlled outlets.
The plans for a new daily and TV channel were revealed in a meeting convened by Edappadi K Palaniswami with AIADMK legislators on Wednesday ahead of the 8 January Assembly session.
Meanwhile, the party also announced 12 leaders, including former ministers C Ponnaiyan, P Valaramthi, S Gokula Indira and Vaigaiselvan as AIADMK spokespersons.
