The Supreme Court on Friday, 10 May, issued a notice to the Central Board of Investigation (CBI), on the plea filed by convict Vikas Yadav seeking four weeks parole, in Nitish Katara murder case, reported ANI.

Yadav is currently serving a jail term of 25 years in connection with Katara’s murder.

The matter was heard by a bench headed by Chief Juctice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi and comprising of Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna.

In 2008, Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav were found guilty of killing, Nitish Katara, a 25-year-old Indian business executive as he was against Katara’s friendship with his sister Bharti Yadav.

A trial court had sentenced them to life imprisonment. In 2015, Delhi High Court upheld the trial court’s verdict and awarded a jail term of 25 years without remission to the brothers.
